Before and After the Rainstorm

On Friday night when my parents, Kenda, and Dade were here, we had one heckuva night! All of the gang (minus Dallas because he was working) went to the Rooftop Rendezvous down at the clubhouse. Every Friday night the Cosmopolitan management provides a BBQ dinner for the residents. So we went down and had our fill of hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and lemonade.

We picked up these cute little containers of what we thought was grape Jell-O and put them on all of the kids plates, hoping to share a few bites with them, too. Before we left to go outside and eat on the deck, a nice lady came up to my mom and said, "Are you sure you want to give those to the kids? Those are Jell-O shooters!" Oops.

Watch Dade. He's a good sharer:

We were just a few minutes into our meal when it started sprinkling and then pouring. We huddled close under the umbrella at our table and watched the kids play and dance in the rain.

After the storm came and went, we went downstairs to the ground level to walk around the Towne Center shopping area, restaraunts, and check out the concert on the plaza. Grandpa Bear (my dad) bought us all some GOOD treats at the Royal Chocolate. Treats like peanut butter, toffee, pecan turtles, and oreos covered in dark, white, or milk chocolate. And we found a little nest of baby birds in the awning of the coffee shop next door:

After the chocolates our first stop was the fountain.

I gave each of the kids a penny to make a wish. After throwing in her nickel (I ran out of pennies), Madeline realized that she could go digging for money in the fountain and pull out everyone else's wishes. (Remind you of Goonies, anyone? Don't worry, my dad quoted it, so you don't have to.)
Just stealing a few wishes until she had to throw them back.

Raleigh was so mad. "Look at what Madeline is DOING!!" (And looking eerily like Miley Cyrus in this picture.)

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Monkey see, monkey do.

If you're a Purdy, you love the water:

We got to enjoy seeing these two faces we just don't get enough of:

And we listened to this man and his saxaphone:

While watching my parents be grandparents and my kids be grandkids:

And my parents be a cute married couple:

Since she was in town, I had no one to call!

Dallas surprisingly showed up around 8:30-ish, and we attempted a family picture:
That's as good as it gets for us. Until next time . . .

  4. That looks like such a fun evening with your family. I'm glad to know there could be alcohol in Jello so now I won't be so naive. By the way, could I get another invite to Madeline's blog and Raleigh, if she has one. I waited too long to accept and got denied. Love ya'll.

  5. Looks like you guys had a great time with your family visiting. I bet it was wonderful. Now that Riki has moved away, the only "OTHER PURDY" that is around is Nate and his cute family. Although, we are all SOOOO excited that they will be living so close to my parents! We miss and love you guys.
